Keith and Abbie | Wedding

February 2, 2010 - 3 Responses

Keith and Abbie’s wedding was one big spoonful of happiness. It’s been several months since the day but it still remains vibrant in my memory. I’ve had this post in my drafts for ages, but as summer is such a rush of postings and they’re buried so quickly,  I wanted to be sure this mass of images didn’t get lost in the hubbub.  You can also view this wedding at our main website under the “featured” section. As usual, I’ll let the images of this beautiful couple do to talking, as I doubt anyone reads much of what’s written anyway…this is a photography blog after all is it not? :)

Reminiscing About Summer…

January 28, 2010 - One Response

With today’s brilliant sun making it’s grand re-appearance, my mind was tricked into thinking that perhaps it would also be warm out…but of course, being that it’s still January, so such luck. So instead we’ll journey back in time through pictures. Back to a time when all was fresh and green and growing and glorious. Although last night on our walk, hubby and I were saying that there is something strangely calming about winter. No grass to mow, no garden screaming for attention, and a less stressful way of life in general. I suppose it does pay to look on the bright side of every season/situation of life.

Some gems from one of my very favorite summery sessions of 2009. Thanks again Colin and Erin!

Peoria Wedding Professionals | Sinclair Dance Studio

January 28, 2010 - Leave a Response

Christyn from Sinclair Dance Studio holds a special place in my heart. The many hours we’ve spent traversing the aisles of Lowes, tearing out kitchen cabinets with our construction worker-like strength, pouring over home design ideas, poking fun at HGTV’s cookie-cutter designs, photographing countless weddings,  and scouring every sale possible for vintage furniture have been lovely hours indeed. As a fellow small business owner, Christyn is a kindred spirit who understands the occasional need to get away from the computer and go grocery shopping…because it’s just not as fun by yourself!

Q & A with Sinclair Dance Studio

1. What can a couple expect at their first lesson?

To have a comfortable introduction to a dance style of their choice with personal attention.

2. Can you customize dances to a couples song?

Certainly! Any song can be choreographed for a couple and this is one of our most frequent requests.

3. How long do you recommend a couple take lessons?

For as long as they want to dance!  I recommend a minimum of four lessons to get a basic grasp of a dance style, but the more the better – especially when prepping to show off your newly acquired skills in front of all your wedding guests, and in a long dress at that! (we do keep several crinoline skirts on hand so you can practice how a dress will feel before “suiting up” for the big day)

4. What dances are best for a “first dance”?

The Rumba and the Waltz lend themselves well to a first dance due to their slower nature. Unless you’re the super adventurous types who want to go all out with a ChaCha in your wedding finery :)

5. Why did you get into ballroom dancing?

I had  always wanted to learn, when I got up the nerve/my husband dragged me to tryouts, I fell in love with every aspect of dance and the rest is history!

6. What is your favorite dance?

The Chacha & the Hustle – so much energy in these dances!

7. Can we hire you to give lessons to couples at our wedding?

I am usually unavailable on the weekends (off shooting weddings…we can blame Deidre for this one)  but feel free to contact me with your ideas!

Jeffrey and Becky | Wedding

January 21, 2010 - One Response

Jeffrey and Becky were married on a surprisingly cool August day, although after all the cool summer weddings of last year, it really shouldn’t be surprising (not complaining though!) This was yet another of my “sick weddings” as were all my weddings end of July and beginning of August, but I’d like to think I put on a good face despite the inability to eat solid food :) It was fairly easy to feel complete comfortably though with a wedding like theirs. Something about it was just “right”. How love and friends and family should come together to celebrate such an event. After a touching ceremony, we headed over to Eureka College for the reception, and much to my surprise I LOVED shooting there. Hubby graduated from there but sadly I had never visited (terrible wife? yes.) The campus was lovely and the reception was beautiful.

Thank you both for a memorable wedding – we wish you so much happiness in all your years to come.
